Associate Dean of Adult Education – The main role is to serve as the chief assistant to the Dean of Adult Education in academic policy, student admissions, curriculum research and development, faculty recruitment and retention, and budget development and administration. The incumbent acts as department administrator in the Dean’s absence.
Responsibilities- Identify and recommend staffing needs; interview and recommend part‑time faculty to the Dean, evaluate them, and advise on retention.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive orientation program for part‑time faculty in collaboration with Human Resources and the District Office.
- Maintain two‑way communication between administration and faculty to ensure program integrity, current offerings, and integration of new technologies; aggressively pursue and resolve concerns.
- Serve as hearing officer on student complaints and recommend resolution procedures; ensure academic policies are communicated and followed.
- Prepare and develop budgets for the division with the Business Office; monitor the budget and implement procedures for requisition, purchase, and maintenance of instructional equipment and supplies, maintaining accurate inventory control.
- Work with the Registrar’s Office to facilitate seamless registration for the Adult Education department in accordance with District policies.
- Coordinate the evaluation, review, and implementation of innovative curriculum additions, course outlines, syllabi, and textbook selection.
- Draft proposals to secure external funding for projects and initiatives beyond District capabilities.
- Work with the Office of Research to plan and conduct routine research on course offerings’ numbers, status, and success; prepare reports and analyses of progress or adverse trends and make recommendations.
- Use computer software to prepare memoranda and spreadsheet reports detailing activities and statistics.
- Represent the college to community organizations and agencies; participate in district‑wide committees.
- Maintain accuracy and detail in all assignments.
- Serve as weekend and/or evening administrator for the College.
- Adhere to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English as a Second Language (ESL), or a related field required;
Master’s degree preferred. - Minimum five years of administrative experience in Adult Education and/or ESL programs, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Proven organizational and supervisory skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with employees at all levels, students, and college customers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer proficiency with knowledge of a variety of software programs.
- Self‑directed and innovative, capable of assessing current operations to improve future goals.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner.
$92,866–95,000 per year, determined by education, knowledge, skills, and experience.
