SalarySalary Range: $64,469.94 to $82,839.39
Responsibilities- Provide instructional planning, including written lesson plans in accordance with program objectives.
- Establish positive learning expectations and evaluate student progress, maintaining accurate records.
- Implement instructional methods using contemporary principles of learning theory and teaching methodology; employ a range of instructional materials.
- Participate in the development and implementation of new teaching techniques.
- Create bulletin board and interest areas reflecting current student work.
- Exhibit knowledge of curriculum content at the appropriate instructional level.
- Participate in programs to improve student attendance; promote anti‑vandalism initiatives.
- Establish and maintain reasonable conduct rules in the classroom and on school grounds compliant with Chicago Public Schools Uniform Discipline Code.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and seating charts.
- Encourage student growth in self‑discipline and positive self‑concept.
- Ensure fairness in teacher‑student relationships; exhibit understanding and respect for students.
- Initiate conferences with parents, guardians, administrators, and supporting personnel as per school procedures.
- Communicate with parents/guardians and counsel students on academic progress, attendance, and conduct.
- Participate in in‑service meetings, professional staff meetings, and utilize relevant materials provided.
- Coordinate and attend class field trips.
- Work in extracurricular and after‑school activities; utilize community resources.
- Successfully completed all student teaching requirements and coursework to obtain teaching certificate(s) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
- Possess at least one valid teaching license:
Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS), properly endorsed for this position. - Knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification requirements.
- Knowledge of contemporary principles and practices of teaching, and of classroom and behavior management techniques.
- Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs and to collaborate with faculty and administration on instructional programs.
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, guardians, staff, and community representatives.
- Skill in applying contemporary teaching principles, good oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, and sound professional judgment.
Light Work:
Exerting up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally, or up to ten (10) pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demands include the ability to stoop occasionally, reach frequently, handle objects occasionally, talk and hear constantly, frequent use of near visual acuity, and occasional use of visual acuity.
