The Chicago Industrial Arts & Design Center (CIADC) is hiring!
CIADC is a non-profit organization that provides creative industrial arts programming to Chicagoland youth and adults in 4 Departments:
Metal Casting, Metalworking & Forging, CNC Fabrication, and Woodworking. We serve over 1,600 people, of all abilities and interests, annually.
CIADC is looking for the right person(s) to join our Team as a Woodworking Instructor/Technician. This is an in-person position at our Rogers Park facility.
The following 3 positions are available;

Position 1 (Instructor/Manager):
Weekday days;
Mon-Thu 9am-3:30pm; possible Friday hours
Position 2 (Instructor/Tech):
Weekday evenings;
Mon-Thu 3:30pm-10pm; possible Friday hours
Position 3 (Instructor/Tech):
Weekends;
Sat 9am-6:30pm (school-year), Sat 9am-3:30pm (summer), Sun 9am-3:30pm (year-round)
- manages Department personnel (Manager position)
- assists with the development of Department programming and facilities (Manager position)
- recommends Department purchases (Manager position)
- maintains Department equipment, tools, materials, and supplies
- administers open shop time for safety and proper tools use
- instructs youth and adult Woodworking classes
- completes assigned Shop tasks/projects
- has teaching proficiency in general woodworking processes including cutting, milling, joining, and finishing of wood objects
- has teaching proficiency in the fundamental use of a wood lathe, including tool sharpening
- has experience constructing with both hardwoods and sheet goods
- feels confident with, and can covey, the safety measures associated with woodworking
- has interest and experience in guiding Youth and Adults with functional, decorative, and sculptural wooden objects
- is a great communicator
- is responsible and professional
- has experience in, or is willing to learn, hand-tool, power tool, and shop equipment maintenance for the Wood Shop
