Position: Ceramic camp teacher MADE Chicago $27 per hour

MADE Chicago is hiring ceramic camp teachers for our 2026 camp program.

Our camps introduce students ages 5-13 to ceramics through hands‑on making in a supportive, creative studio environment. Students build skills, confidence, and creative independence while working with clay.

Positions are seasonal, Monday‑Friday, and hired by the week.

Camp Programs We are hiring for:
  • Handbuilding Camps (Ages 5–8)
  • Wheelthrowing Camps (Ages 9–13)
Instructor Responsibilities
  • Lead daily ceramics instruction for campers
  • Teach foundational handbuilding and/or wheelthrowing skills
  • Support campers in developing design concepts and creative problem‑solving
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and well‑managed classroom environment
  • Collaborate with assistants to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Maintain studio cleanliness and safety protocols
Instructor Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (studio discipline) or Art Education
  • Minimum 1 year of experience teaching ceramics (wheelthrowing and/or handbuilding)
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience (or equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and experience)
  • Prior experience teaching children
  • Strong technical proficiency in ceramic processes and studio tools
  • Familiarity with sketchbook design, project planning, and 3D design concepts
  • Clear and effective communicator, able to deliver technical information to children of varying skill levels
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Commitment to creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment
Compensation
  • $27.00/hour
  • Weekly seasonal position
  • Monday‑Friday teaching schedule
