Position: Student Success Specialist - Career Connections (Part-time and grant-funded)

Student Success Specialist - Career Connections (Part-time and grant‑funded)

Under the supervision of the Career Connections department, the Student Success Specialist is a part‑time, grant‑funded role that assists with implementation of the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA). The Specialist will conduct outreach, determine program eligibility, administer assessments, and provide initial and ongoing career counseling to program participants. The position supports lifelong learning and student success by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student achievement.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Assist in outreach activities for participant recruitment for WIOA.
  • Help with participant intake and eligibility activities for WIOA.
  • Provide assistance with initial and ongoing career counseling for WIOA program participants.
  • Administer and coordinate grant‑related activities.
  • Monitor projected program goals, benchmarks, and outcomes to determine if they are being met, and develop strategies to address gaps in performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required (social services, psychology, counseling, education, human resources, business, marketing, or related area). A minimum of 1–3 years of related experience is required, such as educational training, assessment, direct student service, counseling or workforce development.

Qualifications

The Specialist must be able to interact professionally with program participants, college staff, and outside agencies. The candidate should have knowledge of unemployed and low‑income populations served through WIOA, excellent verbal and written communication skills, good organizational skills, and experience with educational programs. Well‑developed presentation and job‑search service skills, ability to communicate with large groups, strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines are essential.

Experience using Career Connect and IWDS is preferred. Bilingual skills are welcomed.

Position Status

Part‑time – approximately 20–25 hours per week. Evening and weekends may be required for special events.

Compensation

Hourly rate: $23.05–$24.00 per hour.
