The qualified candidate for the long-term substitute role will perform duties and responsibilities to ensure that learning keeps moving forward during a teacher's extended absence.
Key Responsibilities- 5 classes + Prep + Resource
- English 1, Speech, Theatre Speech
- Professional educator’s license in the subject area identified.
- Knowledge of best practices as it relates to supporting all students’ ability to learn.
- Strong communication skills.
- Honors or AP experience, preferred.
- Instruct students based on subject- or level- specific curriculum; grade assignments and maintain attendance.
- Supplement lesson plans utilizing interactive technology as appropriate.
- Supervise and ensure safety of students during classroom hours.
- Meet with Department Chair regularly and seek mentoring from other departmental staff members.
- Maintain the highest level of ethical and professional demeanor consistent with the district’s Sexual Harassment, Equal Educational Opportunity, Ethics, Use of Electronic Media, and other appropriate policies.
- May need to participate in parent‑teacher conferences and/or school-sponsored professional development.
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy.
- Maintain student confidentiality.
- May perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as correspondence, surveys and electronic media.
- Ability to write professional communications.
- Ability to present information effectively and to respond to questions from individuals and groups.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community members.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written form.
- Ability to complete mathematical operations and apply concepts of basic mathematics.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to maintain current job skills as directed, especially in technology‑related activities.
- Ability to perform essential duties with an awareness of school district requirements and School Board policies.
- Employee is required to sit, talk or hear regularly, stand, walk, operate duplicating machines and computer equipment; reach with hands and arms; and frequently repeat actions with the same hand, arm, or finger motion such as typing.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus; ability to withstand long‑term use of video display terminals is required.
- Employee may occasionally lift up to 30 pounds such as reference books.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
