School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) is an internationally recognized fine arts institution located in downtown Chicago, offering interdisciplinary programs across undergraduate, graduate, and post‑baccalaureate levels.
Position SummaryThis role represents SAIC to prospective students both on‑campus and virtually, coordinating regional recruitment of new international undergraduate students. The position involves a full range of recruitment activities, including travel, virtual outreach, and event management.
Responsibilities- Implement the undergraduate first‑time freshmen and transfer recruitment strategy.
- Interview, counsel, and register prospective students while managing an assigned territory through the entire enrollment funnel.
- Represent SAIC at virtual, in‑person, and on‑campus events, delivering presentations and reviewing portfolios.
- Maintain regular visits to community colleges, high schools, and community organizations to present about SAIC and evaluate student art portfolios.
- Complete file reviews, required paperwork, and data entry, including school visit reports, portfolio evaluations, recruitment event reports, and travel and expense documentation.
- Review admissions applications and portfolios.
- Participate in professional organizations and stay current on trends in student recruitment, cultural competency, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Collaborate with student affairs and academic departments, including graduate admissions.
- Work extensive evenings and weekends as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 1‑3 years of recruitment, college admissions, or student affairs experience preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including cross‑cultural proficiency.
- Extensive evening and weekend availability.
- Valid driver’s license and passport.
- Interest in contemporary visual arts and the ability to discuss and evaluate young artists’ work.
- Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Travel throughout the United States and key international markets.
- Proficiency with PC and Mac, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite.
- Willingness to learn additional software as needed.
- Experience with higher education admissions and CRM software (e.g., Slate, Salesforce, People Soft) preferred.
Due to travel demands, the position involves irregular hours, frequent long‑haul flights, and limited downtime. Candidates must be highly organized, proactive communicators, and capable of balancing travel with ongoing team responsibilities.
