Who We Are Looking ForWe are seeking passionate and energetic individuals to lead reading instruction for children. The ideal candidate should have a strong knowledge of reading, coupled with a heartfelt commitment to enriching young lives through literacy. Candidates must be able to provide constructive feedback, implement engaging curricula, and work collaboratively as part of a team. Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—are essential for effectively interacting with students, their families, colleagues, and the larger community.
A background check for child abuse and criminal history is required.
Experience RequirementsAt least 2 years of experience working with children in roles such as academic or athletic tutoring, camp counseling, or youth volunteering is essential. A minimum of 1 to 5 years of experience specifically in reading instruction is required.
Education RequirementsA Bachelor's degree is preferred but not mandatory.
EssentialJob Responsibilities
The Children's Reading Instructor will supervise students, deliver reading lessons, create a safe and enjoyable learning environment, and act as a positive role model. Specific responsibilities include:
- Providing daily reading tutoring to students between the ages of 4 and 18 with varying ability levels.
- Offering one-on-one tutoring to foster personalized learning while managing a group of students.
- Teaching foundational reading skills to promote proficiency and development.
- Supervising group activities with a focus on behavior management, safety, and personal growth.
- Ensuring the safety of students and fellow team members.
- Developing fun and creative daily lesson plans.
- Utilizing effective classroom management techniques to cultivate an inclusive and enjoyable atmosphere.
- Collaborating effectively with fellow Activity Specialists and sharing daily responsibilities.
- Exemplifying the Impact Kids Code of Conduct and maintaining a professional appearance at all times.
- Embodying the core values of Impact Kids in all interactions.
- Having fun while working with students!
Physical Requirements
Candidates should be willing to travel and have the ability to respond to emergencies, which may include running and climbing stairs. Good physical condition is needed to perform all job responsibilities effectively.
