Position Overview
St. Helen School is seeking a full‐time Kindergarten Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The candidate will design and deliver instruction aligned with the Illinois Early Learning Standards, support the educational and spiritual foundation for students, and serve as a representative of the Catholic Church.
Responsibilities- Teach and act in accordance with the mission of the Catholic faith.
- Perform teaching duties for a self‑contained kindergarten classroom.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure learning environment.
- Create daily unit and lesson plans.
- Observe students’ behaviors and intervene when necessary to prevent disruptions.
- Collaborate with teacher aides and other support staff to maximize learning opportunities.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and principal; provide feedback on student progress.
- Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records.
- Attend required faculty and staff meetings and participate in professional development activities.
- Cooperate with administrators and staff in school‑related meetings, activities, and projects.
- Participate in religious instruction, ceremonies, and other Catholic educational activities as directed.
- Maintain confidentiality and represent the school positively at all events.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Valid Illinois or out‑of‑state licensure for kindergarten (preferred but not mandatory).
- At least 1–3 years of teaching experience preferred.
- Complete Catholic identity formation training and ongoing professional development from the Archdiocese of Chicago.
- Knowledge of the religious and educational mission, philosophy, objectives, and policies of a Catholic school.
- Practicing Catholic (preferred; required for religion teachers).
- Experience with rigorous and creative curriculum for diverse learners.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to create engaging, faith‑centered learning experiences.
For lay employees: $38,527–$68,776. For religious employees: $35,686–$62,316.
