Job Summary
The Valley View Public School District is seeking a full‑time Bilingual Special Education Paraprofessional for the 2026/2027 school year. In this role, a licensed teacher or clinician directs the paraprofessional to assist students with disabilities in their educational, functional, and social development.
Essential Functions- Assist students with academic tasks and functional skills as assigned by the teacher or clinician.
- Supervise and help students transition in and out of classroom and educational settings, including lunchroom, restroom, playground, community settings, and other activities as indicated by the Individual Education Plan.
- Provide academic, functional, and behavioral support in accordance with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and other related support plans.
- Assist with communication, scheduling, and curriculum adaptations to meet students’ needs.
- Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
- Assist with record‑keeping to track and record student progress.
- Implement classroom management strategies to ensure safety, a supportive learning environment, and student engagement.
- Prepare, copy, distribute, and use educational materials as directed.
- Apply all safety protocols and assistance methods for students.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff to coordinate instructional plans and prepare for activities.
- Use computers, instructional technology, assistive devices, and materials necessary for student and teacher support, including Google Suite.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development as requested.
- Assist students with assistive devices, supportive technology, and access to facilities such as the restroom.
- Implement therapeutic regimens such as behavior modification and sensory breaks under supervision of special education personnel.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Minimum valid Illinois Professional Educator License with stipulations, endorsed for Paraprofessional Educator.
- Minimum high‑school diploma or equivalent with 30 hours of college coursework.

- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, employees, and other parties.
- Knowledge of curriculum materials and instructional techniques desirable.
- Professionalism as a student role model and in performance of duties as a colleague.
- Fluency in speaking and writing in the designated language to support translation of materials and interpretation.
The position may require participation in training and the regular use of de‑escalation and physical management techniques. Work is performed in a school/district environment. Physical demands include:
- Communicating verbally, seeing, and hearing regularly.
- Pulling, pushing, ambulating, and performing tasks from standing and seated positions, including fine‑motor manipulation.
- Occasionally stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.
- Maneuvering and physically assisting students as necessary.
- Assisting students with activities of daily living, including toileting, diapering, and eating, as indicated in IEPs.

Terms of EmploymentSalary and work year are 182 days and are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. A physical exam and a negative tuberculosis test are required. FLSA non‑exempt.
