Continuing Education — Applied Mathematics and Workplace Documents Instructor
Truman College Continuing Education is seeking an instructor to teach a combination ACT Work Keys preparation class that will cover the Applied Mathematics and Workplace Documents assessments. The Work Keys Applied Math assessment evaluates a person’s ability to solve practical mathematical problems commonly encountered in the workplace. The Work Keys Workplace Documents assessment evaluates a person’s ability to comprehend and use written information commonly encountered in the workplace.

- Prepare students to take the Work Keys Applied Mathematics assessment, focusing on the following skills:
- Basic operations, fractions, percentages, ratios, and interpreting numerical data in real-world scenarios.
- Applying logical reasoning and problem‑solving skills under timed conditions.
- Prepare students to take the Work Keys Workplace Documents assessment, focusing on the following skills:
- Reading, understanding, and applying instructions, procedures, policies, and other workplace documents.
- Applying critical thinking and problem‑solving skills under timed conditions.
- Fulfill the assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain a positive instructional environment, and provide opportunities for student evaluation.
- Adhere to the City Colleges of Chicago code of ethics, board rules, policies and procedures.
- Experience teaching math, reading and writing to a diverse student population. Ability to interact effectively with a variety of demographic groups.
- Ability to teach in‑person and online classes.
- Familiarity with online testing platforms and environments.
- Strong communication skills – written, verbal and platform.
