Personalized Learning Coordinator

Personalized Learning (PL) is a top educational priority for CPS; the Department of Advanced Learning & Specialty Programs is charged with enacting this vision and offering the resources and structures to support schools adopting this innovative model.

Job Description

Coordinators are expected to be instructional experts with proven content expertise in personalized learning in at least one core subject (literacy, mathematics, science) and/or with priority student groups (diverse learners, English language learners).

The Coordinator will plan and take the steps necessary to continually improve and expand personalized learning within the school, thereby enriching the lives of more students in Chicago Public Schools.

  • Build the day‑to‑day instructional capacity of classroom teachers and school administrators to deliver core district priorities for personalized learning, including Common Core State Standards, Multi‑Tiered System of Supports, K‑2 foundational literacy, and college and career readiness.
  • Provide differentiated instructional support by modeling effective, research‑based practices in personalized learning; collaborate with grade‑level teams to drive data‑informed instructional planning; provide professional learning and coaching to staff; and partner with leadership teams to actualize CCSS implementation through personalized learning instructional strategies school‑wide.
  • Serve on the school‑based PL Leadership Team, the Instructional Leadership Team, and the CIWP Team to integrate personalized learning throughout the school and core curriculum. Consult and collaborate with principals, assistant principals, and other team members to develop data‑informed strategies that support CIWP development and implementation—including curriculum development, professional development plans, direct support to classroom teachers, student outcome progress monitoring, and intervention plans.
