Position: Teacher - Grade 5 Dual Language (English) (BH)

COMPENSATION

Per Teacher Salary Schedule based on education and experience. District 308 grants experience credit on the salary schedule for up to 10 years of prior, verifiable, contractual full‑time teaching experience.

UNION MEMBERSHIP

This position is represented by the Oswego Education Association (OEA).

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A valid/registered Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Elementary Education (Self Contained General Education) endorsement and Bilingual - Spanish endorsement, or Educator License With Stipulations endorsed as a Transitional Bilingual Educator (ELS‑TBE) preferred.
  • Recent teaching experience at the elementary level (with the exception of new graduates)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, instructional methods and current teaching techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and time management skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, team members, and others.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Teacher leads students towards the fulfillment of their potential by translating district curriculum goals and objectives into learning experiences that will contribute to the development of skills necessary for becoming a mature and responsible individual.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively plan and prepare for lessons. Evidence of this attribute shall include the following: knowledge of content and pedagogy in instructional practices; understanding of the content and its prerequisite relationships and connections with other disciplines; application of students' backgrounds, strengths, needs, and interests to plan for groups of students; setting instructional outcomes that reflect high‑level learning and curriculum standards;

    utilization of resources available through the school or district; and design of coherent instruction aligned to instructional outcomes.
  • Develops student assessments aligned with the instructional outcomes and uses clear criteria. Uses assessment results to plan for future instruction to meet the needs of students.
  • Establishes a learning environment that functions effectively: creates an environment of respect and rapport; establishes a culture for learning characterized by high expectations; effectively manages classroom procedures and student behavior; organizes physical space to ensure safety and accessibility; utilizes technology; and communicates effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrates effective instruction by engaging students in learning: utilizes clear oral and written language; uses questioning to elicit high quality responses; employs discussion techniques; engages students through activities, assignments, materials, structure, and pace; utilizes assessments for self‑assessment; monitors progress; and maintains flexibility and responsiveness.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to high ethical and professional standards: reflects on teaching, maintains accurate records, communicates with families, participates in the professional learning community, seeks professional development, shares expertise, and upholds integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned, to ensure efficient and effective teaching and learning.
