Salary: commensurate with experience

OverviewThe Culture Facilitator ensures a safe experience for all students by supervising school grounds and students during instructional, non‑instructional, before, and after school activities. This individual works closely with students, teachers, and school leadership to implement strategies that promote a strong school culture, positive behavior supports, and student engagement. The position is responsible for maintaining the safety of all students on campus and will assist school leadership, deans, teachers and students by supporting the social‑emotional development of students, strengthening relationships between students and staff, and ensuring that school‑wide expectations are clearly communicated and reinforced.
Responsibilities- Implement school‑wide systems, routines, and expectations that promote a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment as directed by the Dean of Students
- Foster a culture of respect, responsibility, and community among students and staff
- Support initiatives related to student attendance, motivation, sense of belonging, and school pride, including events, incentives, and recognition programs
- Monitor student behavior trends and provide strategic interventions for students in need of additional support
- Support restorative practices, mediations, and conflict resolution strategies to address student conflicts and maintain a healthy school climate
- Partner with families to support student behavior, attendance, and engagement in school activities
- Communicate school‑wide expectations and cultural initiatives to families and the school community
- Serve as a thought partner to staff members in supporting students with behavioral and social‑emotional challenges
- Support attendance initiatives by identifying and addressing barriers to student attendance and engagement
- Work with students and families to develop attendance improvement plans and interventions
- Supervise students in the halls, gathering rooms and school grounds, monitoring noise level and student behavior, and ensuring a safe and inclusive environment
- Supervise and support students during arrival and dismissal
- Serve as a positive mentor for students across all grades
- Complete incident reports/referrals in a clear and concise manner, referring students to the appropriate personnel should disciplinary action be deemed necessary
- Follow and enforce all campus safety protocols, school policies, and code of conduct
- Operate a two‑way radio to communicate with school leadership and staff
- Uphold all Distinctive Schools professional responsibilities consistent with the mission and working agreements of Distinctive Schools
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Qualifications:
- Must have experience working with children in education or volunteer setting, preferably in student support, behavior intervention, or culture/climate roles
- Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills
- Deep understanding of restorative justice, and positive behavior interventions
- Ability to analyze behavior and attendance data to inform interventions
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Experience working with diverse student populations and communities
- Ability to work set schedule based (before, during, or after school)
- Technology demands:
- Ability to learn digital tools and programs as needed for the position
Physical demands: Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching. Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 15% walking, and 80% standing (ability to work on your feet for 4‑6 hours daily)
