The College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences at Roosevelt University invites applications for a part‑time teaching position in Sociology. An M.A. in Sociology or related field is required, though some doctoral work is preferred.
The successful candidate will teach 1–2 courses per academic semester. The primary teaching responsibility will be one Introduction to Sociology course and, if desired, a 200‑level course in any of these topics:
Juvenile Justice, Health and Inequality, or Social Issues. Applicants are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, be comfortable in and support a working environment that fosters diversity, use technology effectively in teaching, and be committed to the advancement of social justice.
The current salary for this position is $3,982.
Primary Responsibilities- Providing instruction to undergraduate students
- Teaching in multiple modalities: in‑person, hybrid, and online asynchronous
- Demonstrating proficiency with online teaching technologies such as Blackboard Ultra and Zoom
- Engaging in department, college, and university service activities when appropriate

Required Qualifications- M.A. in Sociology or related field (required)
- 0–1 years of teaching experience (required)
- Bachelor's degree (required)
- Certification or licensure: ASLTA certification, ASLPI Level 4, or Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI or DI) (required)
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, inclusive teaching practices, and technology use (required)
- At least one semester of teaching experience
Normal climate‑controlled office environment is provided. The job is largely sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing or pulling of less than 10 pounds is required.
