The Summer Tech Program Instructor at Gary Comer Youth Center is responsible for delivering engaging and educational technology-based programs to youth participants during the summer session. The role involves designing curriculum, leading classes, and inspiring students to explore and develop their skills in various technology fields, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive technology curriculum tailored to the interests and skill levels of youth participants.
Lead and facilitate interactive and hands-on technology workshops and classes, ensuring a dynamic and engaging learning experience.
Inspire and motivate students to explore technology and develop their skills in areas such as coding, robotics, and digital media.
Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to enhance their learning experience.
Collaborate with other instructors and staff to ensure a cohesive and well-rounded program offering.
Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity and respect among all participants.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and program activities.
Assist in organizing and participating in program-related events and showcases to highlight student achievements.
Ensure all program activities comply with organizational policies and procedures, promoting a positive representation of the Gary Comer Youth Center.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, or a related field.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching or instructing in a technology-related field.
Proven experience working with youth in an educational or mentorship capacity.
Experience in developing and implementing curriculum for technology programs.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students.
Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing program logistics.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and levels.
Proficiency in using educational technology tools and platforms.
Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate young learners in the field of technology.
