We are seeking a Middle School Math & Science Teacher for the School Year. Academy of St. Benedict the African is grounded in a strong culture of faith and community, fostered through collaboration among staff and meaningful partnerships with families.

Job Responsibilities- Provide high‑quality math and science instruction each day for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classrooms.
- Complete accurate and timely records related to instruction, discipline, and communication.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding the progress of their child(ren) and any behavioral concerns.
- Provide lunch/recess supervision as needed.
- Attend faculty meetings and other professional development opportunities through the Academy, The Big Shoulders Fund, and the Archdiocese of Chicago.
- Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure learning and working environment.
- Participate in the annual performance review.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters.
- Represent the school/parish positively at all events, including extracurricular activities and in the general public.
- Support any additional tasks assigned by the principal essential to the function of the position.
- Teach and act in accordance with Catholic doctrines and moral teachings.
- Serve as a role model for the religious formation of students and as a representative of the Archbishop of Chicago and the Catholic Church.
- Know, teach, and act consistently in accordance with the religious and educational mission, philosophy, objectives, and policies of the Catholic school.
- Complete Catholic identity formation training and other required professional development from the Archdiocese of Chicago.
- Lead and/or participate in any religious instruction, ceremonies, rituals, or other activities directed by the principal.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and the principal.
- Participate in required professional development programs of the Archdiocese or the local school/parish.
- Attend required faculty and staff meetings.
- Cooperate with the principal and staff members in school‑related meetings, activities, and projects.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure learning and working environment.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters.
- Represent the school/parish positively at all events and in the general public.
- Practicing Catholic (preferred, required for religion teachers).
- Compliance with safe environment requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid state licensure for the grade/subject area (preferred, not required).
- Completion of Catholic identity formation training.

This position has a salary range of $38,527–$68,776 for a lay employee and $35,686–$62,316 for a religious employee. Pay within the range is based on education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs. A comprehensive total rewards package, including competitive compensation and benefit programs, is available.
