Richard J. Daley College is currently seeking a Full-Time Tenure Track Faculty for Child Development Studies to begin the Fall 2027term. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving.

The successful applicant must be willing to work a flexible schedule at multiple sites, beable to work well with students, faculty, and staff at all levels within a diverse, multicultural, collaborative environment,provides students with high-quality instruction to develop theskills to thrive in a growing early childhood education profession,teaching strategies that utilize the best practices in education,and regularly incorporates them into instruction.

Please note:

This position may require full teaching in-person, ashybrid schedules are not guaranteed. The starting salary for thisrole ranges from $58,000 to $65,000 annually. This is atenure-track position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Prepare instructional materials for Early Childhood Education students and professionals.

· Develop a course syllabus and utilize student-learning outcomes to guide course instruction.

· Record and submit grades electronically using the college’sdatabase.

· Utilize instructional technology.

· Navigate and make use of a Learning Management System (LMS) tosupport classroom instruction.

· Complete office hours to guide and offer instructional support toECE students.

· Administer programmatic evaluations.

· Assess student learning and utilize data to make instructional decisions.

· Attend departmental/college-wide meetings.

· Complete all mandatory midterm/final grading and active pursuit certifications required by the college.

· Being responsible for instruction in a college environment,specifically within a program with a specialized accreditation.

· Syllabi construction (from a master syllabus template).

· Developing authentic hands-on learning opportunities for students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Master’s Degree Child Development, Early Childhood Education,Elementary Education and Teaching, Education, or a degree in arelated field.

· Illinois PEL License (preferred but not required).

· Strong knowledge of formative and summative assessments and therole it plays in the teaching and learning environment.

· Time Management and Task Management Skills.

· Prior teaching experience in ECE.

· Experience in a higher education environment, teaching adult learners.

· Familiarity with NAEYC Accreditation Standards.

· Familiarity with Illinois Gateways.

· Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Help students reach their academic, personal and career goals andfoster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people andideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.

· Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’intellectual curiosity and helps students to solve problems using discipline-specific thinking strategies.

· Knowledge of instructional technology such as Brightspace orother learning management platforms preferred.

Salary range: $58,000 - $65,000

· Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and applicant's education.
