Kingswood Academy Spanish and Resource Teacher

Kingswood Academy – Spanish and Resource Teacher (K‑8), Darien, Illinois (August 2026). Full‑time/Part‑time candidates considered.

The teacher is considered a ministerial employee by their role working in a Catholic School and agrees to work diligently to support and strengthen the Catholic Church and its value system. They support all the official religious teachings of the Catholic Church throughout personal and professional lives and convey its message and mission.

• Seek an understanding of, and implement the educational and spiritual philosophy and procedures of the local school;
• Strictly observe the Code of Professional Ethics and school handbooks;
• Instruct children in assigned subjects, direct and guide students' learning throughout the day, and adjust instructional level to meet individual student needs;
• Plan lessons, prepare materials, assist individual students, read professional literature, serve on diocesan staff committees, attend faculty meetings, and confer with the principal on instructional and disciplinary problems;
• Participate in all faculty meetings and prescribed in‑service training opportunities;
• Attend teacher institutes as stipulated by the school;
• Complete Catholic Formation Training and other required professional development by Kingswood;
• Supervise students and maintain discipline on the premises before, during and after school;
• Be present when classes begin and remain in the classroom during class periods unless for emergency reasons;
• Have general knowledge of all information contained in each student's cumulative folder;
• Secure the principal's approval for important communications with parents concerning school matters;
• Encourage responsibility in students' conduct and behavior with peers and outside the school community;
• Contribute to the nurturing and advancement of the physical, mental, and spiritual well‑being of the students;
• Make appropriate reports to the principal and parents regarding students' educational growth and development;
• Work with parents to assist them in their role as primary educators of their children;
• Consistently communicate with and meet parents regarding student progress;
• Communicate professionally with all constituents including school administration, parish priests, colleagues, students, parents, and prospective parents;
• Use technology to enhance student learning effectively;
• Perform other related tasks as assigned by the principal.

• Preferred:
  Candidates hold a current Professional Educator License (PEL) or enroll in an accredited program working toward licensure;
• Holds a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university;
• Practicing Catholic preferred; teaching of religion or theology courses required.

$30,000 – $45,000 (prorated based on % of full‑time equivalency). Final salary determined by relevant teaching experience and education.

The employee may frequently sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, feel with hands, reach with arms, walk up or down multiple flights of stairs, and lift up to 20‑30 pounds if needed. Work occurs in standard office and school building environments and outdoors during student activities.
