Position Overview

The Community Outreach Program Manager (Manager) for Community Service and Action (CSA) will develop and manage community-based programs that enhance Loyola student learning and formation through service, social justice, and civic engagement. These programs will be rooted in Ignatian tradition and Jesuit education principles. Reflection, leadership, and personal development are essential to the work responsibilities. Additionally, these student-centered experiences will support the personal and communal transformation made possible through mutually beneficial collaborations with community organizations.

The Manager will ensure that CSA programs and initiatives support the University's mission and strategic plan as well as the vision and strategic plan of the Division of Mission Integration. Goals of this position include:

  • Lead student engagement in meaningful and impactful local service opportunities.
  • Develop and manage mutually beneficial relationships with local community partners.
  • Oversee student leadership development initiatives.
  • Design and facilitate student reflection, learning, and holistic development related to service.
  • Support departmental social justice education and civic engagement programming for students.
  • Manage marketing and public engagement through departmental social media and promotions.
Responsibilities
  • 1. Program Management
    • Manage direct service programs, including Loyola4

      Chicago, the St. Thomas of Canterbury Soup Kitchen Outreach, and Saturday of Service.
    • Recruit, train, and support student participants.
    • Manage program logistics such as communication, marketing, and record keeping.
    • Oversee risk management policies, procedures, and trainings in alignment with Loyola and community partner policies.
    • Integrate personal and communal reflection in all programs.
    • Articulate, assess, and report on program learning outcomes.
    • Manage Student Leadership Development
      • Recruit, train, and support student leaders.
      • Engage leaders in education and formation rooted in Jesuit mission and values.
      • Facilitate the CSA Mentor Program.
      • Support leadership development opportunities beyond CSA.
  • 2. Community Partner Engagement
    • Manage existing community partnerships with local non‑profit organizations through regular communication, site visits, risk management, and collaboration.
    • Assess success and growth potential within community partner relationships and strategically respond to opportunities.
    • Implement procedures for opening and closing partnerships as needed.
    • Support community partner connections with other university departments.
    • Track opportunities for engagement outside of formal program partnerships.
  • 3. Marketing and Public Engagement
    • Manage departmental marketing, with an emphasis on student‑focused social media.
    • Guide departmental storytelling to highlight student, community partner, and other stakeholder voices.
    • Participate in departmental data collection, management, and use in marketing and program management.
    • Manage student consultations for engagement within and beyond CSA programs.
  • 4. Other Duties
    • Support CSA social justice and civic engagement programming.
    • Assist with general CSA initiatives and with divisional and university programs and events.
    • Assist with departmental, divisional, and University reporting.
    • Engage campus partners in collaborative programming and community‑based initiatives.
    • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; master's degree strongly preferred.
  • At least three to five years of related experience and/or training.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Education, Social Work, Pastoral Theology, or related field.
  • Able to work effectively with undergraduate students in a holistic manner, in both individual and group settings.
  • Knowledgeable of Ignatian tradition, Jesuit values, and the university mission and able to apply them in student programming and community engagement.
  • Skilled practitioner in implementing reflection and discernment experiences.
  • Experience in higher education or community engagement (2-3 years).
  • Demonstrated understanding and practice of impactful and mutually beneficial community collaborations.
