Location and Salary
West Side-2400 South Marshall Boulevard (Spry Community Links HS). Salary Range: $64,469.94 to $82,839.39.

Characteristics of the ClassUnder the supervision of the school principal, responsible for instruction, progress, and discipline of all pupils in assigned classes and performs related duties as required.
Essential FunctionsResponsible for instructional planning, including providing written lesson plans and preparation in accordance with the objectives of the instructional program, establishing positive learning expectation standards for all pupils, and evaluating pupils' progress while maintaining accurate records of achievements; implements instructional methods drawing from available materials, participates in development of new teaching techniques, and provides bulletin board and interest areas reflective of pupils' current work;
exhibits and applies knowledge of the curriculum, promotes anti-vandalism programs, establishes reasonable rules of conduct consistent with Chicago Public Schools Uniform Discipline Code, maintains attendance records, encourages student growth in self-discipline, ensures fairness in teacher‑pupil relationships, initiates conferences with parents, guardians, administrators, communicates with parents or guardians, counsels pupils on academic progress, attendance, and conduct; participates in in‑service and professional staff meetings, coordinates class field trips, works in extra‑curricular and after‑school activities, and utilizes community resources.
- Successful completion of all student teaching requirements and coursework required to obtain the appropriate teaching certificate(s) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
- Teachers must possess at least one of the following valid teaching licenses:
Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS), properly endorsed for this position. - Knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification requirements, contemporary teaching principles and practices, classroom and behavior management techniques.
- Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs, cooperate with school faculty and administration, work effectively with pupils, parents, guardians, staff, and community representatives, and understand the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional patterns of pupils.
- Skill in applying contemporary teaching principles and practices, good oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and professional judgment.
Light Work:
Exerting up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally, or up to ten (10) pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly; includes ability to stoop occasionally, reach frequently, handle objects occasionally, talk and hear constantly, use near visual acuity occasionally.
