Early Head Start Teachers and Teacher Assistants Needed
Age Group:
Birth to 5 Years
Early Head Start Teachers and Teacher Assistants will work under the direction of the Program Director and/or Lead Teacher to provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children.
Responsibilities- Assist in setting up and maintaining indoor and outdoor learning environments.
- Use developmentally appropriate practices to facilitate activities for both groups and individual children.
- Observe and document children's behaviors to support the identification of each child's strengths and areas for growth.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings and child staffing discussions as appropriate.
- Develop and implement daily lesson plans that incorporate program requirements, family and cultural influences, and promote children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Maintain a consistent daily schedule that meets individual needs, including:
- Small and large group activities
- Choice time
- Music and movement
- Fine and gross motor activities
- Skill-building experiences
- Meals and snacks
- Smooth transitions between activities
- Encourage exploration, experimentation, problem-solving, cooperation, socialization, and independent decision-making.
- Foster an environment that promotes and supports parent involvement in the classroom.
- Collaborate with special needs staff to support children with Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and ensure inclusive classroom practices.
- Sanitize classroom equipment, toys, and materials, and assist with classroom laundry as needed.
- Assist with meal preparation and service as required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Knowledge of child development and early learning standards
- Commitment to providing high-quality care and education for young children and families
