Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt INTERNSHIP DATES: 6 weeks, Summer 2026 (June-August, exact dates flexible)
COMPENSATION RATE: $16.60/hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Education and Engagement Intern is a project-based educational internship designed for a currently enrolled undergraduate college student seeking hands-on experience within the Education and Engagement department at The Goodman. Working closely with department leadership and in collaboration with colleagues across the organization, the intern will gain exposure to the planning, administration and execution of dynamic programs that connect people of all ages to the power of theater.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide administrative support for the Education and Engagement department, including scheduling, data entry, document preparation and general departmental organization.

Assist with the coordination and on-site execution of programs, workshops, events and community activities at The Goodman.

Support registration processes, participant communication and customer service for public programs and school-based initiatives.

Help maintain program materials, supply inventories and event readiness for classes, workshops and performances.

Conduct research to support upcoming productions, study guides, lesson plans and school-year curriculum resources.

Contribute writing and editing support for educational materials, program descriptions, surveys and departmental communications.

Assist with collecting and organizing program data, attendance records, feedback and evaluation materials.

Participate in departmental meetings, planning conversations and cross-functional collaborations with colleagues across the organization.

Represent the department with professionalism and hospitality when engaging students, educators, families, artists and community members.

QUALIFICATIONS &

EXPERIENCE:

Current undergraduate student in Theater, Education, Arts Administration, or a related field

Coursework, classroom or internship experience in education, curriculum design, arts administration, working with youth or in community-based settings

Familiarity with basic office tools (Microsoft Office and One Drive)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy

Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks

Comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-paced, creative environment

Interest in theater or the performing arts is a plus Familiarity with HTML/CSS, Word Press, Basecamp and Canva is a plus Model Behavior and values consistent with The Goodman’s Community Agreements and furthering The Goodman’s IDEAA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Anti-Racism and Access) goals.
