Position: Middle School Science/6th Grade Homeroom Teacher - St. Ferdinand School - Belmont Central

Middle School Science / 6th Grade Homeroom Teacher – St. Ferdinand School – Belmont Central

We are seeking a qualified professional educator to serve as a 6th grade homeroom teacher and middle school science teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year. The position includes daily religion/SEL sessions and teaching science for grades 5‑8.

Responsibilities
  • Teach and act in accordance with Catholic doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Serve as a role model for students’ religious formation and as a representative of the Archbishop of Chicago.
  • Follow the school’s educational mission, philosophy, objectives, and policies.
  • Complete Catholic identity formation training and other required professional development.
  • Lead or participate in religious instruction, ceremonies, rituals, or other activities as directed by the principal.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and the principal.
  • Participate in professional development programs required by the Archdiocese and the local school.
  • Perform teaching duties assigned by the principal.
  • Attend faculty and staff meetings and other school-related meetings, activities, and projects.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure learning environment.
  • Participate in the annual performance review.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters.
  • Represent the school and parish positively at all events and in the public sphere.
Requirements and Preferences
  • Practicing Catholic (preferred, required for religion teachers).
  • Compliance with safe environment requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid state licensure for the grade/subject area (preferred, not required).
  • Completion of Catholic identity formation training.
Salary

Salary range for a lay employee: $38,527 – $68,776. Salary range for a religious employee: $35,686 – $62,316. Pay is based on education, experience, skills, location, and organizational needs.
