Job Purpose

Adjunct faculty members serve multiple roles as teachers, mentors, colleagues, and scholars. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for teaching courses, reviewing and improving syllabi, understanding students’ needs, developing engaging lesson plans, and ensuring the relevant learning resources are available. Adjunct faculty are expected to excel in classroom instruction and to fulfill various responsibilities related to their assigned teaching duties.

Responsibilities
  • Effective teaching, content expertise
  • Experience in teaching online and/or using course learning management programs.
  • Teach classes which are offered at nights, weekends, and some weekdays.
  • Facilitate class instruction.
  • Evaluate student performance.
  • Develop and update course syllabi using online learning management programs.
  • Input midterm/final grades.
  • Complete all required training such as institute days, sexual harassment, learning management systems, technology.
  • Student advising and mentorship.
  • Develop partnerships with organizations (depending on the courses taught).
  • Maintain required office hours and tutor ESL/EFL students in APA writing.
Job Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Psychology, or a related field. Doctor degree is preferred.
  • Two or more years of post Master of Psychology practice in the field of Psychology.
  • Oral and written bilingual skills (Spanish, English) preferred.
Preferred Professional Qualification
  • Ph.D. or PsyD from an accredited Psychology program.
  • Engaged and familiar with the community, state, and local mental health agencies in the Chicago Metropolitan area with a focus on the Latinx community.
