Position

Teacher Assistant, August to June.

Responsibilities
  • Standard work hours:
    Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 3:00 pm.
  • Full-time and Part Time: 7:30-12:30 pm or 12:00-3:00 pm.
  • The guest Teacher agrees to serve as the teacher at the School, which is a ministry of the Catholic Church with the primary purpose of holistically providing Catholic formation for each student in a wholly Catholic environment, and to carry out the duties of a Teacher in the Archdiocese of Chicago competently and professionally.
  • Support the teacher with the assigned curriculum and regularly evaluate all students to ensure they master it, maintain proper order and discipline, and that the learning environment fosters the Catholic Faith, provides Catholic formation, and is safe, positive, and productive.
  • Work cooperatively and professionally with the lead teacher and staff, students, and parents/legal guardians, treating all with dignity, courtesy, and respect.
  • Refrain from inappropriate, unprofessional, unlawful, or otherwise harmful conduct to the Archdiocese, the School, and/or the School's students, parents/legal guardians, faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Demonstrate a public life consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church and refrain from taking a public position contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Compensation
  • Employee will be paid a daily rate for their work and will be paid biweekly beginning August 17th, 2026, and ending in June 2027.
  • Teachers will be paid hourly only on the days they are in the building and on holidays.
  • The second Wednesday of each month is an early release at 1:30 pm.

  • Support faculty by being flexible and covering other assignments due to the absences of other teachers.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding issues concerning students, co-workers, administrators, and parents.
  • Professional dress is the same as the standards we hold for all staff and students.
  • Supervise and be physically able to ensure our students are always safe in and out of the classroom.
  • Learn to communicate and receive information through the technology platforms the school uses.

  • Refer parents’ questions and concerns to the lead teacher.
  • Use appropriate language in all adult and student interactions, understanding that verbal abuse of another person is un-Christian and never acceptable.
  • Agree to disagree respectfully.
  • Speak to students in a positive tone at all times, especially when redirecting behavior.
  • Properly prepare for each class to attain curricular objectives.
  • Work with each child to foster a spirit of achievement.
  • Provide a safe, caring, and positive environment.
  • Structure discipline within a Christian, Catholic environment.

This position has an hourly range of $17.00 – $21.00. An employee’s pay within the hourly range will be based on many factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
