Preschool Teacher - St. Nicholas of Tolentine - West Lawn

St. Nicholas of Tolentine School is part of the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic schools, serving over 40,000 students in more than 150 elementary and high schools across Cook and Lake counties. The Preschool Teacher is a qualified professional educator who meets the requirements to teach in a Catholic school within the Archdiocese. As a teacher, you serve as a representative of the Catholic Church, acting as a role model, communicator of the Church’s message, and ministerial employee in a local school setting. You will report directly to the principal and cooperate in providing an environment that promotes Catholic education and spiritual development.

• Teach and conduct classroom activities in accordance with Catholic doctrinal and moral teachings.
• Act as a role model for religious formation and represent the Archbishop of Chicago and the Catholic Church.
• Consistently uphold the religious and educational mission, philosophy, objectives, and policies of the Catholic school.
• Complete Catholic identity formation training and other required professional development from the Archdiocese of Chicago.
• Lead and/or participate in religious instruction, ceremonies, rituals, or other religious activities as directed by the principal.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and the principal.
• Participate in professional development programs required by the Archdiocese or local school/parish.
• Perform teaching duties as assigned by the principal.
• Attend required faculty and staff meetings.
• Collaborate with the principal and staff on school‑related meetings, activities, and projects.
• Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records.
• Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure learning and working environment.
• Participate in the annual performance review.
• Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters.
• Represent the school or parish positively at all school‑parish events and in the general public.
• Complete any specific tasks assigned by the principal.

• Practicing Catholic (preferred; required for religion teachers).
• Compliance with safe environment requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Valid state licensure for the grade/subject area (preferred; not required).
• Completion of Catholic identity formation training.

• Transcripts.
• Resume.
• Teaching Licensure (PEL), if applicable/obtained.
• Acceptance in an alternative licensure program, if applicable.
• Professional references.

This position has a salary range of $38,527–$68,776 for a lay employee and $35,686–$62,316 for a religious employee. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
