Teacher

Under the supervision of the school principal, the teacher is responsible for instruction, student progress, and classroom discipline. Duties include providing written lesson plans, establishing learning expectations, maintaining accurate student records, and applying contemporary teaching methods.

Essential Functions

The teacher will:

  • Develop and implement instructional plans aligned with the school’s objectives.
  • Maintain positive learning environments, enforce conduct standards, and manage attendance records.
  • Communicate with parents, guardians, and administrators regarding student progress.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and community outreach activities.
  • Coordinate field trips and after‑school programs.
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Completion of all student‑teaching requirements and coursework needed for a teaching certificate issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.

License Requirements

  • Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) from the Illinois State Board of Education, properly endorsed for this position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Subject‑matter knowledge consistent with state certification requirements.
  • Proficiency in contemporary teaching principles and classroom management techniques.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs and collaborate with staff and community partners.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional lifting up to twenty (20) pounds or frequent lifting up to ten (10) pounds.
  • Capacity to stoop, reach, and handle objects, and to engage in frequent near visual tasks.
