Christ the King School is a Catholic Blue‑Ribbon school located at 9240 S. Hoyne Ave., Chicago, IL 60644.

This full‑time position serves students in PreK through 8th grade and focuses on fostering a lifelong love of reading, inquiry, and learning through engaging library instruction. The Library & Media Specialist will design and implement lessons that promote literacy, research skills, creativity, and media literacy while exposing students to diverse literature, cultures, and perspectives through stories and hands‑on activities. Candidates should have strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a calm, student‑centered environment that encourages curiosity, discussion, and independent learning.

• Design and implement library instruction lessons that promote literacy, research skills, creativity, and media literacy.
• Expose students to diverse literature, cultures, and perspectives through storytelling and hands‑on activities.
• Provide individualized support and guidance to students in finding and using library resources.
• Maintain an organized, welcoming library environment and manage collections and circulation.
• Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum and integrate library resources into classroom instruction.
• Plan and facilitate library‑related events and programs, including media literacy workshops, book clubs, and author visits.
• Promote the school’s Catholic values of respect, compassion, and integrity in library activities.
• Maintain accurate records of media circulation, inventory, and assessments of student use.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and faculty about library programs and resources.
• Participate in professional development and adhere to the Archdiocese of Chicago’s policies and procedures.

• Bachelor’s degree (required).
• Valid state licensure for the grade/subject area (preferred).
• Completion of Catholic identity formation training.
• Safe environment compliance.
• Strong classroom management and student‑centered instructional skills.
• Experience with library or media instruction (preferred).

Salary range: $38,527 – $68,776 for a lay employee and $35,686 – $62,316 for a religious employee. Total rewards include competitive compensation and benefit programs.
