Learn Well is committed to changing the lives of students dealing with behavioral health issues. For more than 26 years, we have provided on-site educational services in hospitals to help school-age patients continue their education during treatment and reintegrate into the classroom. We are seeking a passionate and creative LBS1 teacher to join our team in Chicago on a part-time basis for the school year.
This position involves working in a fast-paced behavioral health in-patient facility, providing academic support to child and adolescent school-age patients in a small classroom setting as they receive treatment.
You will plan and deliver daily lesson plans, provide individualized assistance to students, and regularly communicate about student progress. You will monitor and adjust teaching strategies to ensure student success and maintain accurate attendance and session reports. Class sizes range from 14 to 16 students at any one time.
Position entails a 20-hour-a-week commitment, Monday–Friday, 10:30am–2:30pm.
Responsibilities- Plan and deliver daily lesson plans and provide individualized assistance to students.
- Regularly communicate about student progress and adjust teaching strategies to support student success.
- Maintain accurate attendance and session reports.
- Provide academic support to child and adolescent patients in a small classroom setting within a behavioral health in-patient facility.
- B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution
- Illinois LBS1 teaching license
- Comfortable working with K-12 students
- Strong organizational skills
- Understanding of subject matter relevant to student needs
- Reliable transportation
