About the Department

The University of Chicago’s college and career readiness programs prepare Chicago public high school students to gain admission to, pay for, and thrive in college and excel in future careers. The programs provide free support to more than 300 students annually.

Job Information

The University of Chicago Collegiate Scholars Program (CSP) is a free, three‑year enrichment program that prepares talented Chicago Public Schools (CPS) students for admission and success at highly selective colleges and universities. The year‑round program offers students immersion in a selective college environment. During the summer months, schools participate in six‑week classes taught by University of Chicago faculty and graduate students.

Enrichment activities during the academic year focus on college readiness, leadership development, career exploration and more.

The CSP Program Administrator is a temporary position through June 30, 2027. The incumbent supports the day‑to‑day planning and execution of CSP.

Responsibilities
  • Support the annual CSP admissions process, conducting outreach to Chicago‑area youth, high‑school counselors and community organizations to recruit eligible 9th‑grade students.
  • Review prospective scholar applications, coordinate interviews and serve as a member of the admissions committee.
  • Monitor the CSP email inbox and respond to inquiries from scholars, counselors, parents/guardians and other stakeholders.
  • Assist the Associate Director in planning and executing a year‑round series of college exploration and financial‑aid workshops that promote exposure to and awareness of different college options, scholarships, majors and more.
  • Act as a chaperone for College and Career Readiness and CSP in‑person events and activities, including exploration events, social‑emotional learning workshops, workplace tours, local college visits, test‑preparation classes and more.
  • Provide support in planning and executing the annual College Fair event and college‑tour trips, researching institutions, coordinating logistics and preparing relevant materials for participants.
  • Serve as a point of contact during the six‑week summer program, supporting students and instructors and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Support CSP evaluation efforts by updating surveys, collecting feedback, analyzing results, and researching college readiness curriculum and activities for a high‑school audience.
  • Perform other related work as needed.

Education, Experience, or Certifications Education
  • Some college required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of background or working knowledge in youth development, admissions or college access preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working or serving youth or communities on the South Side of Chicago preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing administrative projects or supporting program operations required.
  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently required.
  • Experience working with Chicago Public Schools students or similar public‑school district preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse populations of students and families required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Google Drive (Docs, Sheets and Forms) required.
Working Conditions
  • Part‑time, temporary position through June 30, 2027.
  • 15 hours a week, in person.
  • Evening and weekend availability required.
  • Position is contingent on continued or future funding.
Pay and Benefits

Hourly pay range: $26.00 – $30.00. This position is not eligible for benefits.
