Job Overview
Position: ELA Instructional Coach (Full Time, 4‑Year Degree required) – OSP, Chicago, IL 60661.Salary: $75,000.00 – $90,000.00.Travel:
Negligible.
- Serve as a literacy specialist to develop and implement the school’s instructional plans aligned with FXW goals and curricula.
- Analyze student data with teachers and administration to diagnose instructional needs and identify research‑based strategies to close achievement gaps.
- Observe and coach ELA teachers to improve instructional planning, teaching practice, and the use of data, assessment, and instructional technology.
- Help teachers and administrators develop school‑wide and classroom intervention plans.
- Continuously monitor, track, and analyze student achievement data to identify needed supports and strategies.
- Plan and execute regular curriculum meetings with grade‑level teams to support curriculum implementation, instructional delivery, and data analysis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Reports to the OSP & HNC Campus Principal.
- Supervised, evaluated, and mentored by the Principal and/or Assistant Principal.
- Collaborates with campus leadership, Head of School, teachers, administrators, staff, students, and parents.
- Bachelor’s degree in education required.
- Master’s degree in teaching or curriculum preferred.
- At least 3–5 years of ELA teaching experience.
- Experience with ELA curriculum development and daily lesson planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective oral, written, and technology skills.
- Familiarity with ISACS criteria and standards of excellence.
- Requires standing for extended periods, walking, and maneuvering in tight spaces.
- Must speak clearly and project voice, and understand speech of others.
- Requires visual acuity at various distances and hearing to focus on one source of sound.
- Fine motor skills for handling small objects.
- Physical stamina for active engagement throughout the day.
- May need to kneel, squat, or stoop to interact with students or access materials.
- Must adapt to various classroom environments.
- High social interaction with students, parents, and staff.
- Manages diverse student behaviors and creates a positive learning environment.
- Communicates via phone, email, in‑person meetings, and written correspondence.
- Potentially engages in conflict situations requiring resolution skills.
- Collaborates as part of a team with other educators and staff.
- Works indoors in classrooms and may work outdoors for activities.
- Comfortable with technology for instruction, communication, and assessment.
- Competitive salary within the range of $75,000 – $90,000.
