Salary Range: $64,469.94 to $82,839.39
Job DescriptionTeacher; under the supervision of the school principal, responsible for instruction, progress, and discipline of pupils in assigned classes, and performs related duties as required.
Responsibilities- Responsible for instructional planning, including, but not limited to, providing written lesson plans and preparation in accordance with the objectives of the instructional program.
- Establish positive learning expectation standards and evaluate pupils' progress, maintaining accurate records.
- Implement instructional methods based on contemporary learning theory and teaching methodology, using a range of instructional materials.
- Participate in developing new teaching techniques, creating bulletin boards and interest areas reflective of pupils' work.
- Apply knowledge of curriculum content related to subject areas and instructional levels.
- Participate in programs to improve student attendance and promote anti‑vandalism.
- Maintain reasonable rules of conduct within the classroom and on school grounds, following the Uniform Discipline Code.
- Maintain attendance records, seating charts, and encourage self‑discipline and positive self‑concept.
- Initiate appropriate conferences with parents, guardians, administrators, and ancillary personnel, and communicate with parents or guardians regarding academic progress, attendance, and conduct.
- Participate in in‑service meetings and professional staff meetings; coordinate and attend class field trips.
- Work in extra‑curricular and after‑school activities and utilize appropriate community resources.
Successful completion of all student teaching requirements and course work required to obtain the appropriate teaching certificate(s) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
License RequirementsTeachers must possess at least one of the following valid teaching licenses:
Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS), properly endorsed for this position.
- Knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification requirements.
- Knowledge of contemporary principles and practices of teaching.
- Knowledge of classroom and behavior management techniques.
- Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs.
- Cooperate with faculty and administration in developing an articulated program of instruction.
- Work effectively with pupils, parents, guardians, staff, and community representatives.
- Understand the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional patterns of pupils.
- Good oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Exercise sound and professional judgment.
Light Work:
Exerting up to twenty (20) pounds of force occasionally, or up to ten (10) pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demands include stooping occasionally, reaching frequently, handling and finging objects occasionally, speaking and hearing constantly, using near visual acuity frequently.
