Middle School Physical Education Teacher

Cook County School District 130 is seeking an enthusiastic, student-centered Middle School Physical Education Teacher to join the team at Veterans Memorial Middle School. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about helping students develop lifelong healthy habits while creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. Qualifications:

• Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License with endorsements in physical education and health education.
• Ability to collaborate with fellow physical education teachers to plan for instruction.
• Knowledge of best instructional practices and assessment strategies.
• Ability to use student data to inform instruction.
• Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
• Experience integrating technology into instruction.
• Commitment to serving a diverse student population.
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver engaging physical education lessons aligned with Illinois Learning Standards.
• Promote physical fitness, healthy lifestyles, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of all learners.
• Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment where every student can succeed.
• Conduct regular safety inspections of equipment and instructional spaces.
• Utilize technology to enhance instruction and student engagement.
• Collaborate with fellow physical education teachers and school staff to strengthen instructional practices.
• Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues through ongoing communication.
• Reflect on instructional practices and continuously seek opportunities for professional growth.

Salary and Benefits :
Starting salary of $54,344, commensurate with your education and experience. Qualified candidates may be granted up to twenty years of verified full-time teaching experience for credit on the salary schedule. You will be paired with an experienced educator through our comprehensive Teacher Mentoring Program.
