SalarySalary Range: $64,469.94 to $82,839.39

Title:
Teacher. Under the supervision of the school principal, the teacher is responsible for the instruction, progress, and discipline of all pupils in assigned classes and performs related duties as required.
- Plan instruction, including writing lesson plans and preparing materials in accordance with program objectives.
- Establish positive learning expectations and evaluate pupils’ progress, maintaining accurate and current achievement records.
- Implement instructional methods based on contemporary learning theory, teaching methodology, and available instructional materials.
- Develop and implement new teaching techniques, furnish bulletin board and interest area displays reflecting current student work.
- Apply curriculum content knowledge for the subject areas and instructional level.
- Participate in programs to improve student attendance and promote anti‑vandalism programs.
- Establish and enforce classroom and school conduct rules consistent with the Chicago Public Schools Uniform Discipline Code.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, seating charts, and encourage student growth in self‑discipline and self‑concept.
- Initiate appropriate conferences with parents, guardians, administrators, and ancillary personnel to discuss academic progress, attendance, and conduct.
- Communicate with parents or guardians and counsel students on progress, attendance, and conduct.
- Participate in in‑service meetings, professional staff meetings, and use relevant materials provided.
- Coordinate and attend class field trips; work in extra‑curricular and after‑school activities; utilize community resources as appropriate.
- Education & Experience:
Successful completion of all student teaching requirements and all coursework required for the Illinois State Board of Education teaching certificate(s). - License:
Valid teaching license(s) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education – either Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS), properly endorsed for this position. - Knowledge:
Subject matter consistent with state certification requirements; contemporary teaching principles and practices; classroom and behavior management techniques. - Abilities:
Modify instruction to meet student needs; collaborate with faculty and administration to develop and implement an articulated instruction program; work effectively with pupils, parents, guardians, staff members, and community representatives; understand the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional patterns of pupils. - Skills:
Oral and written communication; interpersonal skills; professional judgment and sound decision making. - Physical Requirements:
Light work – up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or 10 pounds frequently; ability to stoop occasionally, reach frequently, handle objects occasionally, maintain constant talk and hearing; use of near visual acuity; occasional use of offer visual acuity.
