Job Description Summary
Chicago State University Department of Art and Design invites applications for a 9‑month, tenure‑track position as Assistant Professor of 2D Studio, beginning August 2026. Responsibilities include teaching approximately 12 contact hours of classes per semester with most courses in drawing, painting, foundations, and contemporary art practices. Experience with fiber arts and weaving is a plus.
Responsibilities- Teach approximately 12 contact hours of upper‑level courses each semester.
- Contribute to curriculum development and assessment activities.
- Collaborate with other art and design faculty members.
- Supervise students in internships and professionally related activities, both internally and externally.
- Actively interact with the broader CSU community.
- Serve on program‑wide and university‑wide committees.
- Engage in scholarly, creative, and/or professional activity.
MFA in Drawing and Painting or an equivalent discipline.
Required Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Command of fundamentals in addition to contemporary practices in the field. Experience teaching at the college level and teaching upper‑level courses is required.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience working with a diverse population of students.
- Experience leading collaborative and community‑based artwork.
- Strong exhibition record in the field.
- Depth and breadth in the studio art disciplines.
- Ability to work across disciplines.
