The salary range for the position is $66,000 - $87,250. Salary will be determined by scope of duties as well as a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.

The School of Theatre and Music (STM) at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) invites applications from qualified individuals for a full-time Clinical Associate Professor in Theatre (Directing/Acting/Writing) beginning August 2026.
Responsibilities include teaching, advising, advising and mentoring undergraduate students; maintaining a vibrant professional creative or scholarly research agenda; providing ongoing service to the department, university, college, and profession; and other duties as assigned to sustain and grow a program for 21st-century theatre artists from diverse backgrounds.
Minimum requirements include an earned terminal degree (MFA, PhD), or an equivalent record of professional accomplishments; a nationally recognized profile as an actor and/or director, or evidence of potential for one in the theatrical field; professional and teaching experience interpreting a wide range of classic and contemporary texts; at least five years of professional experience; strong record of teaching; and a demonstrated commitment to supporting students with various backgrounds in the classroom, and the field.
