Education & Vocational Specialist

Responsibilities

• This position provides case management supports that link participants to vocational and career options.
• The position also supports educational linkages, and in-program education of participants by developing and implementing curricula, providing in-program classroom-like instructions for youth as needed.
• Engages in academic, recreational and physical education activities with youth.
• Provides mentorship to youth and supports linkage to GED, and vocational programs.
• Monitors and supervises program participants and ensures a safe and secure environment both on site and during off-site activities.

• Bachelor's Degree in related field.
• Two (2) years teaching experience or related teaching experience, such as tutoring, mentoring, coaching, classroom facilitation, etc.
• Experience teaching preferred. Expertise in a particular subject area is strongly preferred required.
• A valid driver’s license required.
• Must successfully pass a background check.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Fluency in a second language may be required.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
