Job Description
As a high‑school life‑skills special education teacher with The Menta Education Group, you will collaborate with the clinical staff and other members of the academic team in creating and implementing classroom interventions to meet the individual academic and social/emotional needs of the students.
Location:
605 S. Albany Ave., Chicago, IL 60612.
Schedule:
6:45 am–2:15 pm CT, Monday–Friday, following a school calendar. Direct hire with our school:
Return school year after school year (no annual contract). Sign‑on bonus available for special‑education teachers.
- Teach a high‑school life‑skills curriculum in a self‑contained classroom.
- Manage classroom sizes at or near 10 students with paraprofessional support.
- Provide a differentiated learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with staff, including curriculum and clinical staff, to yield positive results for the students.
- Personalize learning to meet individual student needs.
- Provide a social‑emotional learning environment.
- Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with LBS1 (Special Education Teacher) certification, or PEL with Secondary Education and a desire to obtain Special Education Certification (LBS1).
- Ability to teach a self‑contained classroom within all basic instructional areas.
- Experience working with youth with emotional, behavioral, or academic difficulties.
- Flexibility, teamwork, and creative problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including clear and persuasive speaking and writing.
