The Part-Time Teacher / Building Substitute & Campus Minister supports the academic and spiritual life of the school by serving as the on-site building substitute teacher and coordinating campus ministry activities, with a primary focus on school liturgies and faith formation. This role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and a commitment to Catholic identity and mission.
Building Substitute Responsibilities
- Serve as the on-site building substitute teacher, providing classroom coverage as needed.
- Be available for substitute assignments communicated via phone call to personal cell phone by 7:00 a.m.
- Follow provided lesson plans and maintain a positive, structured learning environment.
- Support students' academic and behavioral needs in alignment with school expectations.
- Communicate any concerns or notable updates to school administration.
Campus Minister Responsibilities
Liturgical Planning & Coordination
- Maintain active subscriptions and utilize resources from United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and Faith Catholic.
- Maintain and update the School Mass Planning Document, including:
- Mass readings
- Petitions
- Introductions and roles
- Prepare Mass programs for school liturgies.
- Maintain an up-to-date altar server roster and assign students to Mass roles.
- Coordinate and schedule altar server training.
- Support and assist with student faith formation.
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate and coordinate regularly with Cristina and Reggie, who prepare the church for Mass.
- Coordinate with Miss Sara, who provides music for school Masses.
- Ensure all participants have timely and accurate information prior to each Mass.
- Serve as a point of contact for liturgy-related questions and logistics.
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic who supports and models the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Experience working with children in an educational or faith-based setting.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and parish partners.
- Flexibility and reliability, particularly for early-morning substitute coverage.
- Teaching license preferred (for substitute teaching), or eligibility per school requirements.
Work Schedule
- Part-time, school-day schedule.
- Availability required for substitute calls by 7:00 a.m.
- Additional time as needed for Mass preparation and coordination.
