Transfer Admission Counselor
Roosevelt University, located in the heart of downtown Chicago, is seeking a Transfer Admission Counselor to strengthen our partnerships throughout Chicagoland and help take our team to the next level. This hybrid position will be based at our Chicago campus, with an expectation of 2‑3 days on campus per week (adjusted for the time of year) and additional travel to partner schools.
The Transfer Admission Counselor’s primary responsibility is to guide prospective students and families through the transfer review and application process. This includes meeting with prospective students, families, and school partners to assess academic eligibility, discuss academic offerings, and inform individuals of the Roosevelt student experience. The Counselor will manage an assigned territory of partner schools, acting as the primary point of contact for all school partners and collaborating with offices such as Financial Aid Services, Academic Advising, and other student support services to ensure successful matriculation.
ResponsibilitiesRecruitment and Territory Management
- Promote the programs and services offered that contribute to the value and mission of Roosevelt University.
- Identify, recruit, and admit prospective students in a designated market.
- Manage a recruitment territory from inquiry to matriculation.
- Execute and evaluate recruitment strategies.
- Conduct outreach by email, phone, or virtually with students, parents, and school partners.
- Participate in on‑campus recruitment events and visit opportunities, including weekend and evening hours.
- Counsel prospective transfer applicants on the admissions process and opportunities at the university.
- Provide one‑on‑one and group admissions counseling to diverse populations.
- Communicate requirements, expectations, opportunities, and success stories with school partners to support and identify potential students.
- Manage the transfer applicant pool for all undergraduate programs in the assigned territory.
- Use CRM (Slate), outreach, and other tools to facilitate application completion.
- Thoroughly review student credentials in making admission decisions using university guidelines and awarding merit scholarship opportunities.
- Guide students through the enrollment process, from inquiry or application through matriculation.
- Provide guidance and pre‑advising to prospective students to determine admissibility, appropriate program, location, and resources.
- Inform students of the various offerings and opportunities available while considering their abilities and needs for success.
- Assist students with accessing and understanding general post‑admission information and processes such as financial aid, residence life, advising, and student support services.
- Plan and arrange all phases of local or regional travel.
- Travel to local or regional community colleges or other sites for recruitment events.
- Participate in off‑campus events, visit opportunities, or meetings to engage with prospective students, families, and other partners.
- Collect and enter prospective student contact information for the CRM system.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 1‑year experience working in admissions/enrollment.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences.
- Ability to manage relationships externally and within Roosevelt University.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to navigate personal and potentially difficult conversations with care and tact.
- Self‑starter with the ability to prioritize independently.
- Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.

- Experience with database systems such as a CRM or SIS.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
