4-5 Dual Language Village Teacher

The Academy for Global Citizenship (AGC) is a Chicago Public Charter School located on the Southwest side of Chicago, dedicated to developing mindful leaders who positively impact their communities and the world. AGC offers an innovative, nature-based, dual language, IB, holistic approach to education that fosters systemic change and reimagines learning for future generations.

Role Description The 4-5 Dual Language Village Teacher is a full-time role based in Chicago, IL, This educator designs and delivers engaging, standards-aligned instruction in both Spanish and English for learners in our 4th-5th village. Responsibilities include planning and implementing dual language IB curriculum, differentiating instruction, assessing student learning, and maintaining clear communication with caregivers and colleagues. The teacher collaborates with the village (grade-level) team to create a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment, supports the social-emotional development of students, and participates in school wide vision and professional learning.

Day-to-day work also involves managing classroom routines, using data to inform instruction, integrating project-based learning, and contributing to community-building activities.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess a Professional Educator Licensure (PEL) strong instructional skills in elementary education, including experience with grades 4–5, curriculum planning, and differentiation for diverse learners.
• Candidates should possess dual language teaching capabilities (ESL Bilingual Endorsement), including high proficiency in Spanish, experience in language immersion settings, and skills in biliteracy development.
• Candidates should possess classroom management and student support skills, including creating inclusive learning environments, supporting social-emotional growth, and implementing restorative or culturally responsive practices.
• Candidates should possess high level of collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with colleagues, engage families, and contribute to cross-disciplinary and community-focused projects.
• Candidates should possess commitment to AGC’s mission and values, including interest in global citizenship, environmental sustainability, equity-focused education, and serving the whole child.
