Job Description & How to Apply Below
The School of Public Service (SPS) in the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences at DePaul University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued development, growth, and evaluation of SPS through excellence in teaching, scholarship, service, and student-centered academic leadership.
This position supports SPS's Master of Public Policy (MPP) and Master in Public Administration (MPA) graduate programs, as well as its undergraduate BA in Public Policy degree. The courses taught by the faculty members, however, will also include students from other degree programs as listed below. We seek candidates with expertise for teaching introductory courses in public administration and public policy, practitioner-focused research methods and program evaluation, and capstone courses.
Among other secondary areas of focus are government financial management and applied statistics.
SPS also seeks a scholar educator who is committed to meaningful student engagement, a focused and sustainable program of scholarship, and service to the School, College, University, profession, and community. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to preparing students for careers in public policy and public administration.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
* Provide high-quality and didactic classroom instruction to both graduate and undergraduate students.
* Engage in course development, course revision, syllabus preparation, instructional design, competency-based teaching strategies, assessment of student learning outcomes, and use of educational technologies that support student success.
* Contribute to the MPA and MPP programs' quality through participation in accreditation-related activities, systematic evaluation, course assessment, program assessment, and continuous quality improvement processes.
* Support student success initiatives, including career mentoring and support of classroom-based research projects
* Develop and maintain a focused, sustainable program of scholarship appropriate to a tenure-track appointment, including peer-reviewed dissemination, presentations, and pursuit of internal or external funding as appropriate.
* Serve on School, College, and University committees and contribute to shared governance, strategic initiatives, and the ongoing advancement of SPS.
* Demonstrate leadership within SPS and the community through teaching, scholarship, service, and engagement.
