Harold Washington College is currently seeking a part-time Facultyto teach one or more courses during upcoming terms. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and learning, commitment to the college mission, and a record of demonstrated success in the classroom in supporting and cultivating student learning.

• Fine Arts/Cinema Studies (Art history, film appreciation, filmhistory)
• Humanities (especially: Cultural/ethnic studies, feminism/arts,Latin American/Latino studies, mass media, pop culture)
• Gender, Women’s and Sexuality Studies

• Design courses to meet learning outcomes, and promote students’active participation in their own learning.
• Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies.
• Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of the student learning outcomes for the course.
• Help students reach their academic, personal and career goals andfoster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people andideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
• Contribute to and provide leadership in the student’s academic and professional communities, and promote collaboration and teamwork among members of these communities.

• Qualifying Academic Credentials:
  Credentialing for specific courses is determined by college policy. Generally, a Masters degree in the subject or a Masters plus 18 graduate credit hours ina related discipline allows an individual to teach within aspecific academic area. Eligibility to teach is determined by transcripts, catalog course descriptions, and/or documentation fromthe granting institution that clarifies the content in the major is appropriate for the teaching assignment.
• In instances where an instructor’s academic preparation varies fromthe traditional credentials criteria but the instructor possesses relevant qualifications or experience to the teaching assignment based on industry or specialized accreditation standards and contributes to effective teaching and student learning outcomes, arequest for an exception may be approved by the Vice President viathe Tested Experience form. The Tested Experience form can be foundon the Faculty Forms page of the CCC website.
  
  Qualifications to be considered may include, but are not limited to: on the job training in the industry or field, certification and licensure by arecognized certifying or licensing state, industry, or national agency, professional experience in the industry, peer-reviewed presentations/publications, or related dissertation topic.
• Discipline specific credentials are currently stated in academic policy as follows:
  Fine Arts (Art History/Appreciation & Cinema) Courses:
  Master’s in Art History or M.A. in Cinema;
  Humanities: M.A. in Humanities or Classics or Comparative Religions or Foreign Language literature – OR – Master’s degree with 18 graduate credit hours in one or several related humanitiesdisciplines.
