School of Education, Teaching & Learning Clinical Assistant Professor, Non-Tenure Track

The School of Education (SOE) at Loyola University Chicago invites applications for a full-time, one-year, non-tenure track position as clinical assistant professor of teacher education. This individual will join the Teaching and Learning (T&L) program area which leads Loyola's teacher education program. The selected individual will join faculty in the SOE's undergraduate and graduate programs, each of which is shaped around the SOE's conceptual framework of advancing professionalism in the service of social justice.

The main responsibilities of these positions include the following:

• Maintaining a 4/3 teaching load (four courses in the fall and three in the spring, for example, for a total of 21 credit hours) of undergraduate and/or graduate teacher education courses and modules.
• Courses are offered in university classrooms, while modules are field-based learning experiences of varying credit hours which primarily take place within partner sites. Enrolled students are pursuing Illinois teaching licensure in early childhood, elementary, secondary, and/or special education.
• Fulfilling the service responsibilities of a clinical professor, including advising of students, service to the Teaching & Learning programs, the SOE, the larger university, community, and profession.
• Research and publication are not required, but opportunities for collaborative research are available and encouraged.
• Collaborating regularly with T&L faculty across specialty areas in efforts to provide student support, maintain high-quality programming, meet accreditation standards, and advance the Teaching and Learning program goals and priorities.
• Maintaining and enhancing existing partnerships with schools and community agencies. This includes building relationships with teachers and administrators on site alongside other faculty members.

Qualifications - We seek candidates who will collaborate with colleagues across the program, SOE, and larger university to build an anti-racist teacher education program. Candidates will also demonstrate a strong commitment to urban education and dedication to serving a historically minoritized PK-12 student body in the greater Chicago area consistent with Loyola University Chicago's commitment to advancing social justice through transformative education.

Candidates will demonstrate a commitment to collegiality and collaboration within the T&L program and larger SOE and University community.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Earned doctorate in Teacher Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or other related fields, preferably from a CAEP accredited program.
• Current or previous state educator licensure.
• 3+ years of experience as a teacher of PK-12 students.

Preferred Experiential

Qualifications:

• Urban education experiences and demonstrated efforts to address social justice.
• Experience working with multilingual learners.
• Successful prior work in teacher education.
• Supervision or field-based work with practicum students and/or interns.
