Starting Salary: 75,336

This position is open to the public and all current City employees covered under the City's collective bargaining agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) - BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.

The Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) is excited to hire a new member of our team. Strong candidates should have advanced skills in developing and presenting training materials for various stakeholders, including internal MOPD staff, other City of Chicago departments, and external stakeholders.

Under general supervision, the class provides employee training and development services in a department with diverse training needs; and performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Develops and presents disability- related training materials on various topics such as Disability and Access, Planning Accessible Events, and Digital Accessibility
  • Prepares program materials including training outlines, instructional modules, resource guides, and visual aids for use in the delivery of training programs
  • Leads and coordinates the work of the Training Unit, including assigning projects
  • Conducts research on accessible and affordable housing to incorporate subject matter information into training materials
  • Identifies and coordinates professional development opportunities for MOPD staff
  • Develops and implements training evaluation tools and incorporates feedback for continuous improvement
  • Tracks and reports on the number of training participants
  • Answers technical assistance questions pertaining to program and physical access as it applies to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Provides support in managing MOPD's Advisory Committees

Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of training or teaching experience.

Should the above criteria not be fulfilled, the following options are acceptable:

  • Seven (7) years of training or teaching experience
  • Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree plus five (5) years of training or teaching experience
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree or higher plus two (2) years of training or teaching experience
