Position: Out-of-School Academic Program Instructor (Literacy or Mathematics Focus) Multiple Position Open

Out-of-School Academic Program Instructor (Literacy or Mathematics Focus)

Work Year: 30 weeks of programming (Two 60-minute sessions per week; program dates: 9/14/26 – 5/13/27)

Compensation:
Hourly rate as per contract including 1 hour of planning per hour of student contact time

Reports to:

Director of Full-Service/21st Century Program

Position Overview:

To provide out-of-school instruction in literacy or mathematics and related content areas including socio-emotional development, arts integration, and health/wellness and to conduct required assessment activities.

Qualifications:
  • Valid State of Illinois Professional Educator's License (PEL) in early childhood, elementary, or middle school education.
  • Certification in specialized areas (special education, reading, bilingual education or ESL, etc.) preferred.
  • Proven ability to deliver instruction in the focus area.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate multiple facets of technology to enhance learning and instruction.
  • Ability to interpret student assessment data, adjusting curriculum, and instructional practices to meet students' needs.
Duties:
  • Obtain training in after school programming objectives, outcomes, and instructional strategies (required training provided by district).
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques, providing the grade-level appropriate instruction to groups of students.
  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, curricular units, and projects using standards-based objectives and communicates these objectives to students.
  • Conducts a wide variety of assessments to ascertain student needs and adapts curriculum and instruction to these data.
  • Recognizes students' special needs, seeks the assistance of district specialists, as needed and/or required, and makes appropriate individualized physical and instructional accommodations within the classroom.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Director of the Full-Service/21st Century program or designee.
Skills:
  • High proficiency in the effective delivery of instruction in the focus area (literacy or mathematics)
  • Ability to differentiate instruction given provided and gathered assessment data.
  • Familiarity in the delivery of best practices in small group instruction.
  • Familiarity with district curriculum and learning standards in the areas of literacy and mathematics.
  • Preferred experience in delivery of instruction in the area(s) of arts integration, socio-emotional development and health and wellness.
