Harry S Truman College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, isseeking a dynamic, experienced, and student-centered Automotive Technology professional to join our faculty as a Full-Time,Tenure-Track Instructor.
The successful candidate will bring strong industry expertise,current knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostictechnologies, and a commitment to preparing students for successful careers in the rapidly evolving automotive industry. The ideal candidate is an engaging educator and skilled automotiveprofessional who can connect classroom instruction with hands-on learning, industry standards, emerging technologies, and workforceexpectations.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:- You must demonstrate excellence in teaching, commitment to integrating new technologies in the learning process and the ability to inspire, motivate and empower students tosucceed.
- You are required to post your syllabi on Learning Management System (Bright Space) and to enter your final grades online inPeople
Soft. - Facilitation of Learning. Plan, prepare and deliver instruction and facilitate the learning of students.
- Curriculum Implementation. Revise and continually updatecurriculum and instructional materials which are competency-based,current, consistent with employer expectations, and aligned withthe automotive industry and ASE certification.
- Classroom Management. Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintaininstructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping,and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation.
- Business/Industry/Community Linkages. Develop and delivercustomized training for various clients as needed and maintaininvolvement with business/industry/community through advisorycommittees, marketing and recruitment efforts, and professional associations and organizations.
- Advise and support students as a mentor and role model inthe achievement of their learning and career goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Technology is strongly preferred. Minimum associate’s degree in Automotive Technology asthe base degree.
- Current certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), plus all appropriatecertifications.
- L1 ASE certification preferred.
- Three to four years of work experience in thefield.
- Teaching experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of intricate automotive systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work skillfully with highly technical diagnostic equipment, including:
Scan Tools, Lab Scopes,DVOMs, Air Conditioning Recycling Equipment, Vibration Diagnostic Equipment, etc. - Intermediate computer skills, including the use of the internet, Microsoft Office products, email.
This position is represented by the Local 1600 Faculty Union.
Salary Range is $58,000.00 - $65,000.00
The salary offered will be determined by the respectivecollective bargaining agreement and applicant's education,experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
