Instructional Aide

Ombudsman Educational Services seeks an Instructional Aide to support middle and high school students in an alternative education setting. You will assist teachers with classroom instruction, small-group and individual support, and behavior management for at-risk and nontraditional learners. Responsibilities include preparing materials, monitoring student progress, and helping maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment. You'll collaborate closely with teachers and school districts while building skills in special education, behavior support, and student advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with daily classroom instruction and activities
• Work with small groups or individual students on targeted skills and credit recovery
• Reinforce behavior expectations and provide positive behavior support
• Assist in maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
• Prepare and organize instructional materials and classroom resources
• Monitor student engagement, attendance, and progress
• Provide supervision during transitions, breaks, and non-instructional times
• Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and district partners to support student plans
• Document observations and communicate student needs or concerns to the teacher
• Model respectful, student-centered interactions aligned with the school's mission
