Ombudsman Educational Services, a Chance Light Education brand, seeks a Special Education Teacher to support middle and high school students in an alternative, nontraditional setting. You will design and deliver individualized, standards-based instruction, develop and implement IEPs, and monitor academic and behavioral progress for at-risk students. Working closely with school districts and a small, collaborative team, you will create a safe, structured classroom, integrate behavior supports, communicate with families, and advocate for student success in a student-centered, personalized environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver individualized, standards-based instruction for students with disabilities in an alternative setting.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with IDEA and district requirements.
  • Use data to track academic and behavioral progress and adjust interventions accordingly.
  • Implement behavior support strategies and de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe classroom.
  • Collaborate with district personnel, related service providers, and internal team members.
  • Communicate regularly with families and guardians regarding student goals and progress.
  • Provide accommodations, modifications, and differentiated instruction to meet diverse needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and student records.
  • Participate in professional development focused on special education and behavior support.
  • Contribute to a student-centered, mission-driven school culture for at-risk and nontraditional learners.
